Kairos Prison Ministry
Kairos is an international interdenominational program whose purpose is to build Christian
communities behind prison walls by telling the residents about Jesus, helping them form
prayer and share groups, and letting them know we care about them. Many no longer hear
from their families and feel abandoned and hopeless.
As a tangible expression that the Christian community has not forgotten them, we give each
resident and staff member a dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies. They are amazed
that someone would do that without expecting something in return. Most people in the
prison system are takers-not givers. Another dozen is given after a day of emphasis on forgiveness
of self and others; these cookies are to be given to the person on the compound
they have the most difficulty with. This is part of the healing process toward forgiveness and
peace with God at the helm.
The Kairos Prison Ministry will be distributing cookies to the ECI at Maury on April 10-13 and NC Correctional Institute for Women in Raleigh, April 17-20, and we need your
help with prayers and homemade chocolate chip cookies for both prisons. Donations are
also welcome since it costs about $5,000 to present this short course in Christianity. Thanks
so much for your support.
